Who We Are
RITE-Africa (Regional Innovation & Training in Eye-care) is a collaborative initiative focused on strengthening ophthalmic training across Africa. Our mission is to equip the next generation of eye care professionals with practical skills and innovative tools tailored to local realities.
We develop cost-effective simulation models, laser training solutions, and context-appropriate educational programs to enhance patient care and build sustainable health systems.
PRISM Eye — Advancing Retinal Laser Training
PRISM (Peripheral Retina Interactive Simulation Model) is a locally designed 3D model that allows ophthalmology residents to practice panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) in a safe, realistic, and affordable way.
By removing barriers to hands-on laser training, PRISM Eye empowers young ophthalmologists to gain critical skills earlier — improving outcomes for patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
